I’m excited to be talking about one of my favorite topics today… handbags! Truth be told, I was never intrigued by designer handbags until last year. I’ve carried Michael Kors bags for the past few years and have been so content with them. However, I was bitten by the Louis Vuitton bug and the love affair is real! I purchased my LV Speedy 30 in Damier Ebene a few months ago and have used it enough to have formed a solid opinion on it. Before I tell you whether or not it was a worthwhile purchase, let me share with you what I carry on a daily basis!
Cosmetics Bag/ Catch All
My pouch inside my bag is my lifesaver. I carry both small makeup items and everyday necessities in here. I choose not to carry around a full makeup bag with me, just what I know i’ll need. Typically that means a couple of lipsticks, chapstick, and maybe a powder if I know it’s going to be a long day. I always have a tube of Mac Creme Cup Lipstick with me because it’s comfortable to wear and looks good with anything. Aside from makeup, my pouch typically carries a mini lotion, hair ties, bobby pins, lady products, nail clippers, a mini hair brush, mints, and hand sanitizer. I love knowing that these potentially messy items aren’t going to be floating around, possibly destroying the interior of my bag.
This one is kind of a no brainer! I have an older pebbled leather Michael Kors wallet. I don’t carry a lot on a daily basis so a small wallet is perfect for me. Plus, it doesn’t get heavy like a full sized wallet would.
My planner has really become my lifeline lately. I carry it with me so I can stay on top of my to do list and jot down notes as I need to throughout the day. I also use this planner to write down blog post ideas, so I like to have it with me when an idea strikes. This size is great for carrying in a handbag and is very lightweight. The brand is Day Designer and I picked it up from Target.
I can’t leave the house without a pair of sunnies. I’m really careful to keep them in a case or microfiber bag because I don’t want them getting scratched up in my bag.
Portable Phone Charger/ Battery
By the end of a long day out, my phone battery is usually running out. I like to keep a fully charged portable battery with me. I charge it in the evening with my phone, so I don’t think twice about it. It’s nice to not have to look for an outlet and be stuck in one spot waiting for my phone to charge (which can take forever!) I plug my phone in, toss it in my bag, and forget about it.
Louis Vuitton Key Pouch
I purchased this key pouch, or key cles when I was in Italy in May. Let me tell you, it was one of the best purchases I’ve made! It’s a small zipper pouch with a gold chain that attaches to my keys. It looks tiny but on any given day, it carries my key fob, my house key, a credit card, my license, and a hair tie. I’ve used it for the gym and left my keys out and put a pair of earbuds inside. It’s so handy an has saved the interior of my bag from being scratched by my keys. Plus, I think it looks super cute hanging on the outside of my bag.
Is Louis Vuitton worth the splurge?
In my opinion? Yes, yes, and yes. This bag has made me so happy over the last few months. I saved for months with intentions of buying this bag and walking out of that store knowing that my hard earned money went to something that I love so much is the greatest feeling. Carrying this bag brings me so much joy and that alone makes it worth it! On a more practical note, this bag is a beast. This particular canvas/ leather combo is so durable. The brown coated leather and canvas, unlike the monogram canvas with uncoated leather, can hold up in any weather. The leather will not patina (turn darker) and will not show water spots. The first day I carried this bag was actually in the rain! I also consider this bag an investment piece. I have no plans of selling it (I even committed to putting my initials on it!) but if I did, LV bags retain their value and you don’t lose much money when they’re resold. The final reason this bag was worth it… it’s timeless! The Speedy has been around since the 1930’s and has always been iconic. I can wear this bag with workout clothes or a dress and heels and it works either way.
If y’all have any questions about my bag or LV in general, please feel free to ask! If you have any Louis Vuitton pieces, do you feel they are worth the splurge?
