Well, just when I thought I was easing into Spring weather, the 90 degree temps hit us here in Southern California! I’ve been hanging by the beach and laying out poolside so i’m officially in Summer mode. Summer is one of my favorite times of the year for so many reasons. Riley and I go out to his family’s lake house and spend long days on the boat wake boarding. I love warm summer nights, eating dinner outside. This summer, we have a couple of fun trips planned with our closest friends. Aside from all of the fun summer activities, creating a summer wardrobe is super fun. I mean, the trickiest part of styling a summer outfit is which sunglasses go best with your bikini… I ain’t complaining. I’m sharing with y’all some of my favorite picks in each category. I was sure to include some budget friendly items as well as some items I actually own. I hope this gives you some options for building an easy, breezy summer wardrobe!
I keep my accessories to a minimum, especially in the summertime. I have a pretty big sunglass collection, and these that I picked up in San Fran are new favorites. My sister picked these ones up last week and I love them! Such an affordable dupe for these amazing Dior ones I tried on recently. Straw bags are all over the place this season and this beach tote and this clutch are two favorites. I love a necklace that I don’ve have to take off for the pool, beach, or on sweaty days and I haven’t taken this one off since I got it. Plus, it’s $35!
Summer clothes have to be lightweight, flowy, and super easy to style. Denim shorts or flowy dresses are basically all I wear when it’s hot. I’m sure you’ve seen me in this off the shoulder blouse over and over on instagram, but it’s an affordable favorite that goes with everything. I got these shorts for my birthday and they’re seriously the perfect denim cutoffs to pair with blouses, tees, and even bathing suits. Not too short too, which important for me… #bigbootyclub, ’nuff said. If you’re looking for that perfect dress that works for casual or date night, you can’t beat this.
Swim/ Cover Ups
I feel like swimsuits are always a bit tricky. I love a cute suit, but finding the perfect cut that is flattering isn’t a walk in the park. I’ve been itching for a one piece and finally decided to splurge on this one piece. It’s still in the mail but the amazing reviews have me suuuppper excited to get it! I might even get brave and do a blog post wearing it. My mom got me this top for my birthday and it’s THE cutest. Another splurge, but I rather have a couple of suits I adore rather than a ton that are “meh.” If you want the cutest suit, but are on a budget, this one piece is on sale for $21 and has adorable ruffled, off the shoulder details.
Any given day during the summer, you’re probably going to find me in these sandals. When I bought them years ago, I hesitated to spend that kind of money, but I wear them to death. For affordable sandals, Old Navy does it best. These ($20) and these ($30) are in my cart. Every pair of sandals I’ve had from there are super comfy & get great reviews. I’m not buying any new heels this summer, but if I was… THESE. It was kind of love at first sight when I saw other gals wearing them. Imagine them with white denim, sundresses, or literally anything else in your closet. They’re perfect.
Fun Extras/ Gifts!
If you’re headed to a barbecue or summer pool party, this category is for you, girl! I have a small water bottle collection and hydration is extra important when you’re out sweatin’ in the heat. This and this are both super cute options & would make super cute gifts. If you’re looking for a fun hostess gift, a fun book is always a win. This cookbook and this fun cocktail popsicle book would be perfect gifts… especially if you brought the “poptails” to the party (sign me up for thaaaat!)
I’d seriously love to hear either what your summer plans/ traditions are or what items you’re adding to your summer wardrobe!
