To begin, let’s state the obvious… 90% of the outfits I wear are neutral in color. No shame in that either. I love neutrals and find that my wardrobe is so versatile because of the neutral tones. This look is one of my favorites for a couple of reasons. A) It can be recreated by combining good basics like basic sweaters and great denim with fun accessories like my pom pom beanie and my scarf. B) It’s so cozy. I love looking pulled together but being comfortable is my number one priority. I love that this look is still neutral but isn’t boring… the layers give it some interest. While it may be intimidating to pair so many neutrals together, I have a few tips for doing it with your own wardrobe.
Create a base color. You don’t want every piece to be a different color. You’ll notice that I have black denim, black booties, and a black beanie. This creates a cohesive base for your outfit and helps it to look pulled together.
Don’t go overboard. You’ll notice I took the black base and added two more colors: camel and light grey. If i had added dark grey, cream, or another neutral shade, it would be overwhelming. The tan scarf ties in with the pom on my beanie. Pick two color and stick to them.
Add texture. I think the part I love most about this look is the texture. The fringe scarf, the knit beanie, and the pom pom all add unique textural elements that keep the look from looking boring.
I’d love to hear what your favorite combos of neutral colors are… i’m always looking for ideas. Thanks for stopping by.
